Ownership
Ownership
One of the most important aspects is ownership, i.e. who owns the licenses and data to the services provided for you. These may include:
- Domain names
- Office 365 tenants
- Website content
- …etc.
Each is, as far as applicable, owned by you, the client.
Domain names
Each domain name which Hove ICT manages for you (i.e. company.com or alternative-company-name.com) has a registered ownership in your name. This includes your full name and company address. These are known with the registrar (the company centrally managing domain names).
To claim ownership of a domain, you can contact the registrar of any of your domains and start their recovery process.
Find your registrar here by typing in
your domain name, and finding the value next to Registrar URL
.
Please contact Hove ICT to receive the exact details of your registration name and address.
Office 365
The Office 365 tenant (account with all the e-mail and other related services) is linked to your domains. As such, ownership lies with the owner of the domain. To claim ownership of an Office 365 tenant, first reclaim ownership of the domain and then contact Microsoft to start their recovery process.
Website content
If Hove ICT manages a website for you, the full content of it is backed up periodically.
Each backup can be used to fully recreate each website.
Important
Given that these services are managed for you by Hove ICT, it’s important to transfer management to a competent management company for continuation.
